Lanzarote is an island of contrasts, from volcanic peaks and ancient lava fields to sprawling vineyards and idyllic sandy beaches with many hidden gems to explore. Many of our guests want to experience the islands unique natural beauty and see some of the diverse landscapes and incredible mountain views that Lanzarote has to offer.

Timanfaya National Park
Lanzarote has some 25 active volcanos on a surface of more than 50km square that have given rise to landscapes from another planet. At the beginning of the 18th century, Lanzarote shuddered and rivers of lava began to gush from the depths of the island, in an impressive eruption that would last for years. You can visit the remains of the islands volcanic activities known as the Timanfaya National Park where you get to see impressive craters and volcanic formations in all their shapes and colours and geysers that show magma still beats near the surface, quite a natural spectacle. Declared a national park of Spain in 1974 The only way to visit Timanfaya National Park is the bus tour but is well worth the trip to see this spectacular lunar- like landscape, also known as Fire Mountain.
Jameos del Agua
Located in the north of the island, Jamous del Agua is one of the most famous places to visiton the island. Cesar Manrique optimised the mix of architecture and nature in natural caves created by lava tunnels and created a unique place to discover, unique to Lanzarote. There is much to see there, lava tubes, a blue lagoon pool, subterranean sea lake which is home to a unique species of blind crabs about 1cm long. A restaurant and an auditorium.

Mirador de Rio.
Located 400 metres high on the Risco de Famara is one of Cesar Manriques most representative architectural creations. Although unassuming on the outside, the inside hides surprising details of monumental and unique sculptures hanging off the ceiling and impressive glass windows which offer spectacular panoramic views to the eighth Canary island of La Graciosa.

Discover the natural volcanic pools of los charcones
Not far from Playa Blanca you will find the natural pools of Los Charcones. The volcanos that erupted hundreds of years ago built multiple facilities on the island and Los Charcones is one of them. The petrified lava created a set of natural pools of all shapes and sizes with crystal clear waters of turquoise and sea green. A perfect place to relax and get away from the crowds of the more touristy areas.

Cueva de los Verdes.
The Cueva de los Verdes (Green Caves) of Lanzarote are one of the most fascinating attractions on the island. Exploring nature by walking 2km in a lava tube that formed following the eruption of volcano La Corona 3-4000 years ago. The tube is 6km long and continues below the sea for 1.5 km. It is often referred to as the Atlantis tunnel. The cave was a sanctuary during the 16th and 17th century, the islanders used to hide in the intricate tunnel system so that marauding pirates couldn’t find them. The whole tour of the caves is underground but has lighting so you can navigate the fascinating caves. During the tour you will visit the natural auditorium which hosts classical music concerts throughout the year and the surprise optical illusion of Cueva de los Verdes will be revealed which has still remained a secret despite being open for more than 45 years!

Playa Chica beach is a small covey beach located in the busy resort of Puerto del Carmen. This little beach is surrounded by volcanic rock with golden sands. The water is clear which makes it excellent for snorkelling and scuba diving. From the surface it looks like a normal rocky cove but once you put your head under the water it comes alive with colour and beauty and all varieties of fish found in the Canary Islands.
